We have actually had quite a few problems with our daughter's convertible crib. Some pieces did not fit well together and we had to get replacements. it helped, but wasn't exactly as top notch as the price would have indicated. Then, when we did convert it to a full size bed, it doesn't fit a full size mattress. A full size mattress actually goes to the outside edges and does not nest inside the side rails, causing the mattress to slide. I must push it back every day when making my daughter's bed. Plus, the support boards that go over the interior rails are the same height as the side rails, so it is completely smooth. Again, this contributes to the box spring sliding every day as my daughter climbs in and out. Their customer service regarding this was terrible. They sure didn't get repeat business from us when our son was born. It just wasn't worth the price.

I got a call this weekend from our retailer about this - we had an order in for a crib and changing table. Now we have to start from scratch without the 12-16 weeks :( This was the only company we could find that had a modern look, blond wood, and a drop side. Here we go again...

this is outrageous. i read about them filing for bankrunptcy via this blog. i trusted the response by the company's rep in response to the blog site's concerns. now that tehy are bankrupt and my order has been cancelled, i am without a crib or a dresser and my due date is only a few weeks away!!!!!
terrible - no wonder they went bankrunpt.

Does anyone know a dealer who stocks crib conversion rails? I've contacted ~10 and they all order them directly from the factory (which is obviously now closed) so they can't get them.

StopbuyingAsianMade

It infuriates me when I see responses like " That's why they went out of business.".
That's NOT why they went out of business. They were a wonderful manufacturer with incredible employees who stood by their product and their compnay. They were loyal and hard-working. This company went gone because people have stopped buying quality and have instead gone to quantity. Yes, you can buy an Asian-made crib for 400 dollars...sure can. But what is it made of? Do you know who made it? Do you know what types of glues were used, what type of stains were used?
No. Morigeau made their product using hardwoods and wood by-products. Thye offered inexpensive lines and boutique-grade lines. They closed for the same reason so many wonderful small businesses have been closing. Because no one supports quality anymore. They want it cheap and fast. We all run to the internet for a good deal. We think of it this way...no tax and no shipping, right? Cheaper and faster, right? That's exactly how companies and stores lose their customer base. No one can keep up with cheaper and faster. You see a product at a small business for 10 bucks more than you saw it online plus they charge tax. Where do you think you're going to buy it?
I know where I'm buying it. I'm buying where I can return it if I don't like it or it doesn't fit or it breaks down and I need it fixed right away...the brick and mortar store I bought it from.
Yes, the product costs more.
But remember this.....
Cheap is usually expensive in the long run....you get what you pay for.
Unfortunately, cheap is going to win out and those stores, those manufacturers and those products that stand the test of time will eventually suffer the consequences.
Thank you for your time.

Jennifer

Does anyone know how to obtain replacement parts for a Morigeau-Lepine crib? We have a crib from the Collection 3500 and need replacement hardware. I just found out about the company closing

Thank you!

Bill

I'm glad I had the foresight to order the daybed sidebar WITH the crib when we bought it. It's sad to hear they closed. They made a superior product; one worth the price.

Does anyone know where I can get a conversion kit for the 5000 series crib?

sue demoor

Does anyone know where I can get a conversion kit for a morigeau lepine 8800 series crib in the two tone natural and cognac finish? If anyone has a twin bed/bunk bed/trundle bed from this series please let me know fi you want to sell it. Thanks sue

Suzanne

I'm in search of the toddler daybed conversion piece for the 2500 series crib (the 250 style). Unfortunately, it's not just taking a piece off like the sleigh bed, but a necessary full piece. I thought I had it, but turns out I only had the full size conversion - which I don't even want! If anyone has info/has this piece and no longer needs it, pls reply as I'd offer a nice price for it. Thanks.

Joel Marler

Suzanne, I don't have the toddler conversion piece but my wife and I are desperately seeking the full size conversion kit that you referenced as not even wanting it. We have been looking all over for this kit and cannot find it anywhere. Like many others have noted, parts were ordered on a need basis so very few, if any, inventoried parts. Please reply to my email at joelmarler@comcast.net if you would like to sell this kit.

Mackenzie Olson

Hello, I am also looking for the conversion kit for the 5000 series. Does anyone know where I can get one, or have one they are done with or not using?

Shamika Parab

Hi, I'm also looking for the 5000 series conversion kit (to a full bed). If you have one in chocolate, I'd be happy to buy it from you. I've looked everywhere. Does anyone know if any other conversion kits (maybe the Di Vinci?) work on the crib?

Krista Carpenter

Help, I'm looking for a tiny little "slider' thing that the crib slides up and down on and can't get it anywhere. Without it the crib is useless. Need it for May!

Greg

Those looking for a conversion kit, if you are handy, you can probably just get a metal bed frame and then attach the headboard and footboard to the frame. Its not ideal, you will need to use a boxspring (and a bedskirt) but at least you will get to use the headboard and footboard. You can also find on ebay metal rails that can be attached to crib headboards and footboards with screws. Again, not desgined for morigeau, you will need a boxspring but better than throwing the crib away.

Greg

Krista, not sure what slider you are looking for. You can try ebay for universal crib parts to see if you can find the slider you need.

brad

krista. i think i have want you need. send me phone number at brad@karlsbaby.com.

Debra

I purchased the 3500 series crib and need the conversion kit. Does anybody know if other brands are compatible with the Morigeau-Lepine cribs? I have the honey stain...Also would love the nightstand and kicking myself for not ordering it initially now that I found out they went out of business!

Jen

I have the toddler bed conversion kit for the 2500 series crib, crib 250D, in white. It is new in box and never used, desperately seeking the full size rails to convert to the bed, thought they ordered us both to find out we only got the toddler bed rail and never checked the box until we needed it in January and of course Morigeau is gone now :( If anyone has the full size rails to sell in white, for the 250 crib, please e-mail jen at jpuglvr@hotmail.com

Help! Three of the four wheels have broken off our Morigeau Lepine crib. Does anyone know where I can find replacement wheels?

Jen

Does anyone know what size mattress these cribs take. My mattress is 52 wide and there are large gaps in the connor. I can put my hand down easily.

Karen

Looking for a conversion kit for the 1900 series crib. However, I will settle for a scanned copy of the installation instructions/assembly instruction manual!

God, I'm glad I insisted on getting the conversion kit when I ordered my son's bedroom set in 2005! He has the 793AD from the 1900 collection in Chocolate stain. We purchased through the buying club, Direct Buy and saved heaps off of boutique retail. The pieces were incredible-- high quality and visually impressive.

Yet in Dec 2006 when I was expecting twins and needed two cribs and the matching casegoods, all did not go well. My order ended up in limbo for about six weeks. It wasn't until mid Jan. that Direct Buy informed me that Morigeau-Lepine had held the order because they wanted to know if I was interested in purchasing more elaborate (and expensive)drawers for the cribs! I was infuriated. It was like the up sell was more important than the timeliness of completing my order.

I blame Direct Buy for the delay as well. Despite the savings, the chain of processing orders is long and convoluted. I knew I would deliver the twins well before my march 10th due date and it was mid Jan! Sadly, I had them cancel my order of well over $3,000!

Ultimately we went with items at Babies R' Us. We couldn't help but feel guilty, as our oldest had this striking, high quality furniture and our two newest joys had lesser quality pieces. The twins arrived in perfect health on Feb. 12, 2007 and besides being over joyed with my darlings I was pretty glad we didn't try to continue the order and its 8 wk. processing time.

Just this spring hubby and I were on Direct Buy's members' site and couldn't find Morigeau-Lepine in the youth furnishing section. Hubby called DB and was told ONLY that they no longer carried the brand. We actually thought that our canceling a order might have facilitated a break in the buying club's relationship with M-L. :)

Imagine my surprise in learning they are "no more". I actually got out a catalog I still had. All their numbers are disconnected or reassigned. The website is a dead link. Truly sad and telling of a down economy. God bless them for not cutting quality to boost their own profit. I don't think they were EVER under a recall.

I just can't believe that there was no investor interested in purchasing this outstanding company. Again, truly sad and telling.

Billie

Jen, I have found myself here because I also have a mattress that doesn't seem to fit! It worked at the higher level but not at the lower. What is going on??!!

Brian

Kari Nystrom

I have a crib with full conversion kit that I would like to sell. It is 4 years old and in excellent condition. All parts present, including wheels and full bed conversion kit. I believe it is a 7000-series (arched top with 2 small oval openings) in honey finish. I can email photos to those interested. We used it as a crib, then took off the rail to use as a day bed. We were ready convert it to a full-sized bed but just realized that the kit converts to a double bed - not a twin (duh). We don't want to take up the extra space with the double.
Contact kndspd@snet.net if interested.

I have furniture from the 8800 series in cognac. I have recently taken the changing table off of the 3 drawer dresser and am now looking for the bookshelf that fits on top of the 3 drawer dresser. I am looking to buy it if anyone has one or info on any stores that might still have any.

Barry

Hey there, Jen asked in May of 2009: 'Does anyone know what size mattress these cribs take. My mattress is 52 wide and there are large gaps in the connor. I can put my hand down easily.'

I'm not sure what model you have, but the envelope that holds the paperwork for our model #265 says 69cm (27 1/4") x 131cm (51 5/8"). I would imagine that all cribs would be around the same. If there are large gaps, perhaps the corner bolts are not tight enough.

Zoe's Mother

Hi, I noticd many people looking for a conversion kit. I got my conversion kit at mother's choice in toronto. Funny enough I live in Markham and my friend in Texas told me she ordered hers from these guys! Anyway,I called in and they were great! I couldn't figure out my model number and they identified my crib from a picture I emailed them! Its nice to see a store trying to accomidate all of those people with this beautiful furniture. It would be a shame to have to dump such a beautiful bed because of the rails. I'm very sad to see such a good company go under since they tried to keep Canadian products. I wonder what that says about our population's loyalty to this fine country.
Here is the phone number i have 416-285-0334
Good luck!

Hi, I just found out today that Morigeau Lepine is out of business. The day after my son made his first attempt to climb out of his Morigeau Lepine Series 2800 crib. So we need a toddler conversion kit--or the instructions for doing so, so that we can rig something up--can anyone help with a conversion kit they want to sell, a vendor who has some conversion kits, or scans of instructions?

Many thanks.

I have lost my assembly instructions for an older Morigeau crib Model #788(Bought in 2001). Does anyone know where I can get another one??

Nic

Does anyone know how I can tell which Morigeau model # crib I even have? All the images of their cribs seem to be nowhere to be found on the internet.

J

I need a conversion kit for the 2800, too. I'm especially interested in the toddler rail. If anyone has any leads, please contact me. Thanks so much! :) spamboulevard @ gmail.com (Take out the spaces before and after the @ symbol.)

Mel

I bought a crib and dresser. The crib is okay, a little flimsy but fine. The dresser looks beautiful at first glance but the wood split on the top about a month after we got it. The boutique we bought it from was no help and the customer service we got when we called Morigeau was dreadful. I am happy to pay "more" for quality and locally made items but I really regret this purchase.

Laura Benner

I too am looking for the toddler bed crib conversion kit for the 5000 series. I have the summer harvest color but would be open to other colors. If you have the kit, please contact Laura at 1.917.602.2861 (US). Many thanks!

You can contact me via email at awalther@yahoo.com. If anyone has a converter kit for this series please let me know. I would be interested in purchasing it.

Rita Di Giacomo

I bought a 9000 series bed with the conversion kit, I went to convert the crib and realized that the conversion kit was missing the side rails, if anyone knows where I can purchase these or get a set that would be great. I am now dealing with the place where I bought the bed, but no luck. The colour I am looking for is the toffee. You can email me at rob001@sympatico.ca

Hi, looking for the conversion kit for model 9600 cognac,
does someone knows were it could be purchase.

Jon Cofinas

Such a shame.

My wife and I told the sales person that we wanted good furniture made in North America and this was the company we went with. This was April 2008. Little did we know two months later it would be over. So sorry for all the craftsmen and employees. This is great furniture. The Asian stuff can't compare.

Just a shot in the dark here but - does anyone know where we can get the 8800 Night Table (8841L) in Natural? It would be a miracle but stranger things have happened.

All the best.

Jon

Jamie Kitson

I am also looking for the plastic 'stud' slider piece that busted on my crib, anyone know where to buy one.
Thanks!

Shannon

Does anyone know if the drop side cribs have been part of any of these recalls?

jen

I spoke to two suppliers, one in the states and one in Toronto who have converstion kits for a number of the Morigeau Lepine cribs, inlcuding the 2800 series.

In Toronto you can call Mother's Choice at 416285 0334, she's selling them for $229.

In the US, you an email Mory at mory@childrensisland.net. He's overpriced but seems to have everything...though I would check first. He says "we have The full kit is $299 plus $50 S&H FedEx, which includes two rails, two cross bars, and two crossbar legs.
You need to purchase two pieces of MDF from your local Home Depot to install them on top of your rails." So maybe it is not a full kit if you need to purchase wood. You can call him at 858-689-9998

There is also someone on a woodworking site who says they have the instructions. If i can download I will post here later.
best

I have a Morigeau Lepine crib - I believe it's the 288 version in toffee and eggshell. Does anyone have a conversion kit for this bed that they are looking to sell or has anyone had experience purchasing this through Mory at Children's Land?

Courtney

It appears I have a morigeau 295 crib. manufactured in Sept of 1998. We purchased it used & the seller did not know the brand name. I just stumbled across the brand name stamped underneath the headboard. That is the same place I found the number "#.295" stamped...which I am guessing is the model number? Anyway, the seller did not have instructions for the crib & it was not set up at time of purchase. Does anyone here have instructions for how to set up this crib. I know it's a long shot, but it cant hurt to ask!

Thank you

Courtney

I finally found what I was looking for. I no longer need instructions for crib assembly

Thank you.

Joanna

For those looking for a conversion kit for the 288 series. I have a found a dealer that has been making the kits for 2 years now & shipping all over. www.childrensland.net (858) 689-9997
